Ashly Fine Rugs presents a 20th-century Vintage French Savonnerie 6×29 green and gold hand-tufted gallery-sized runner. It was custom ordered and created by Edward Fields Long Island NY in a French Savonnerie design in the 1960s. French Savonnerie rugs exemplify the formal grace and elegance of classical European design. Savonnerie rugs shared with French Aubussons a Neo-Classical taste for naturalistic flowers and swags or garlands in soft colors on a dominant ivory field, except that they were made in knotted pile rather than tapestry technique. Made with all vegetable-dyed, handspun wool and entirely hand-tufted. This rug is in immaculate condition with roughly a 1/2in pile and very vibrant colors despite its age.
