The name Haji Jalili stands at the apex of the Persian carpet-making tradition: this Tabriz master weaver of the late 19th century created rugs of such extraordinary technical refinement and aesthetic beauty that his pieces now occupy permanent positions in the world’s great textile museum collections and command six and seven-figure prices at Christie’s and Sotheby’s when they appear at auction. Haji Jalili’s workshop was defined above all by an insistence on the finest materials — the highest-quality Tabriz wool, natural silk for pile accent, and a range of natural dyes of exceptional purity — and a commitment to knotting densities that allowed design detail of miniaturist precision at carpet scale.
